It’s funny how many Tintin fans get so furious at the single mention of Tintin being gay while true Tintinologists like Numa Sadoul (who knew Hergé), Pierre Assouline or Apostolides see no problem with that. Numa Sadoul(who is a same sex marriage supporter) is even able to kiding with that hypotesis.
I thought all the hate towards slash had stoped. I was wrong apparently -.-.
Why people don’t just agree to disagree?
I hope nobody get angry at me by this…but it confuses me.
I learned recently that some fans believe Haddock has a secret crush on Castafiore. I´m not talking about shipping, they believe they’re canon. As much as I read and examine the books I can´t see any evidence, actually I see the contrary….
I remember reading a discussion about it and it seemed they’re upset because all the speculation surrounding Tintin and the Captain’s relationship; maybe they’re trying to invent a hetero normative crush in the books because of that. I don’t see it either.

Captain’s Fantasy
Okay so let me get this straight, and forgive me if I put words in your mouth:
> If Tintin is gay and sexually active, then he can’t be “a polite, cheerful, adventurous, reporter who has an apretiation (bad spelling, sorry) for nature, art, music, and culture.” Because, of course, your sexuality is directly dominates your personality traits, and thus being gay makes you a “bad” person. Which is why everyone should be “happy” that he’s “not gay” (which is highly subjective since Herge himself never actually confirmed/denied Tintin’s sexual preferences, and thus is left entirely up for the reader to decide…but that’s another story for another day).
> If someone writes homoerotic Tintin fanfiction, they are a soulless freak of nature because they want to explore the idea of two characters who just happen to be of the same sex sharing a close, romantic bond and choosing to come out and be in a sexually active relationship in writing. Also, if it’s not canon (and especially if it’s gay), then we’re not allowed to write about it.
> If Tintin really “stood for what is right,” he wouldn’t be telling people that being gay is wrong, as you yourself are apparently saying. Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’ve always seen Tintin as a good-hearted, non-bigoted kind of person who would let people love/marry whoever the fuck they want. He’s stood up for abused outcasts and minorities several times in canon, so who’s to say he wouldn’t stand up for a homosexual getting picked on?
> If you don’t like Tintin slash, then why are you even reading this story? The only person to blame for that is yourself.
> Tintin and Haddock didn’t have sex in this fic, they only kissed. Actually to this date I’ve never written a sexfic with Haddotin (mostly because I’m afraid it’ll turn into Fifty Shades of Ginger, so be thankful for that).
> Also, P.S., but “appreciation” is spelled with two P’s, so that’s something else you got wrong.
Case closed, bring in the dancing lobsters.
They have to remember that there’s no evidence Tintin is straight as well. But if a fic depicts him with a girl they don’t matter. There is even some experts on Tintin that don’t put aside the possibility of him being gay. People just have to learn to agree to disagree.
